Calisthenics, drawn daily

The dice decide.You obey.

Two dice. One picks the exercise, one picks the reps. No plan to follow, no decision to make, nothing to buy. Just roll and move.

How it works

Three seconds from
“meh” to moving.

Most workout apps hand you a plan and a decision. Alea hands you a number. The whole app is one button. The rest is just doing what it says.

01

Roll

One tap. The exercise die draws your movement, the rep die draws your number. That's the plan.

02

Move

Twenty bodyweight exercises: push, pull, legs, core, cardio, holds. Do the reps wherever you're standing.

03

Repeat

Roll again, or bank it. Come back tomorrow and the streak grows. Don't break the chain.

What's inside

Small app.
Loud results.

The roll

Decision fatigue,
deleted.

Configure your dice (a D4 for an easy day, a D20 when you mean it), then stop thinking. Every roll is a fresh draw from your own pool, so you never plan a workout again.

  • D4 – D20 exercises
  • D4 – D12 reps
  • Timed holds
  • One-tap
Alea's home screen before rolling: two dice cards labelled Exercise and Reps, and a large Roll button.

The streak

Don't break
the chain.

Roll on consecutive days and the number climbs. Alea keeps your lifetime reps, your best streak, your top exercises and your week at a glance. The only scoreboard that matters is yesterday's you, and if you miss a day your monthly freeze covers it.

Full sessions

Want more
than one move?

Draw a 100-rep session at random, or generate a tailored workout by time, focus area and difficulty. Same dice energy, real training volume.

The share card

Flex
the grind.

Every roll and every session becomes a clean card built for your story. Post the draw, tag #TheDiceDecided, and let the dice do the talking. Challenge cards travel with a tappable link, so they work in a DM as well as on a story.

Duel mode

Challenge anyone.

Send a challenge card to anyone with a phone. They get your exact roll, race the same clock, and the faster time wins. No account, no friend request, no lobby. Just a link and bragging rights.

  1. 01Do the workout against the clock.
  2. 02Share the card: WhatsApp, Messenger, SMS, anywhere.
  3. 03They open it and race your exact roll.
  4. 04Fastest time takes it. The other one knows.

Nobody to send it to yet? Race yourself instead. Same duel, no one else required.

Solo duels  ·  New in 1.3

Nobody to race?
Race yourself.

Every timed session gets banked, so your last twelve workouts become opponents. Beat your own clock, or pick a pace-setter and find out where you actually stand. Same duel, same settle screen, no one else required.

  • The Warm-Up

    A gentle opener. No excuses.

    2:3046 reps
  • The Regular

    Trains most days. Nothing flashy.

    4:2066 reps
  • The Grinder

Turns up when it is raining.

    7:0086 reps
  • The Machine

You will not beat this today.

    10:0093 reps

Straight up: the pace-setters are designed benchmarks, not other people's data. Nothing here is collected from anyone. Your solo duels never leave your phone.

Everything else

The details
that keep you going.

Streak insurance

New

Life happens. One freeze per calendar month absorbs a single missed day and your chain survives. It doesn't stack: insurance against a slip, not a bank of skip days.

The rule
1 freeze / month
Covers 1 missed day

Reminders that learn

New

Alea notices when you actually train and nudges you about an hour before your usual time. Until it has enough to go on, it just asks at 6pm. One notification a day, and you can switch it off.

Timing
~1h before your median hour
6pm default

Make it yours

Dark, light, or follow the system. Four accent colours. Soft or sharp corners. Set it once and the whole app follows.

Options
3 themes
4 accents
2 corner styles

Your dice, your rules

The exercise die runs D4 to D20 and the rep die D4 to D12. Small dice keep you on the fundamentals with gentle numbers; big dice open the pool to pistol squats, muscle-ups and reps up to 75.

Range
D4 – D20 exercises
D4 – D12 reps

Holds, not just reps

Planks, L-sits and handstands get drawn in seconds instead of reps. Twenty seconds on an easy roll, three minutes when the dice are cruel.

Range
20s – 180s

Every roll counted

Today's log, the week strip, lifetime rolls and reps, your best streak and your most-drawn exercises. Enough to see the habit forming, not so much that it becomes homework.

No catch

Nothing to
sign up for.
Nothing to sync.

Alea has no login screen, no backend and no analytics profile of you. Your rolls, your streak and your history live on your phone. That's it.

No account

Open the app and you're training in seconds. There is no sign-up, because there's nothing to sign up to.

Stays on device

Your history is stored locally. Duel links carry the roll inside the link itself, so no server holds your workouts.

Works anywhere

Hotel room, park, kitchen floor, no signal. Bodyweight only, offline by default.

What it costs

The whole bill.

Every part of the app, itemised. No trial clock, no locked tier, no ads between rolls.

Questions

The short answers.

Is Alea free?

Yes. Alea is free to download, and the whole core loop (rolling the dice) is free to use. No ads, no in-app purchases, no trial that expires.

Do I need any equipment?

Almost none. Everything is bodyweight: the floor, a wall and you. A few pull movements (pull-ups, inverted rows, muscle-ups) want a bar or a sturdy edge. Everything else needs nothing at all.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up, no email, no password. Open the app and roll. Even duels work without accounts, because the challenge travels inside the link.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Alea runs entirely on your phone and keeps your history in local storage, so it works with no signal at all.

What exercises are in it?

Twenty bodyweight movements across push, pull, legs, core, cardio, plyometrics and balance, from push-ups, squats and burpees to pistol squats, L-sit holds and muscle-ups. Your dice size decides how many of them are in play.

Is it for beginners or advanced?

Both, and you set which. A small exercise die keeps you on the fundamentals with gentle rep counts; scale it up and the pool grows into the hard stuff with rep values up to 75.

How do duels work?

Finish a workout against the clock and share the challenge card. Whoever opens it gets your exact roll and races the same clock. The faster time wins, and the result card settles it. Challenges expire after 48 hours. They don't need the app installed to open your challenge, and neither of you needs an account.

What if I have nobody to duel?

Race yourself. Alea banks your last twelve timed sessions, so your own past workouts become opponents. Or take on one of four pace-setters, from The Warm-Up to The Machine. Those are designed benchmarks, not other people's data, and solo duels never leave your phone.

What happens if I miss a day?

You get one streak freeze per calendar month, and it covers a single missed day automatically, so the chain holds. Freezes don't stack, so it's insurance against one slip rather than a pile of skip days. Miss two days in a row with no freeze left and the streak restarts at one.

Will it nag me?

Only if you want it to. The daily reminder is one notification, off unless you turn it on. Once it has seen a few of your workouts it moves to about an hour before your usual training time; before that it just asks at 6pm.

Can I change how it looks?

Yes. Dark, light or follow your system theme, four accent colours, and soft or sharp corners. You can also resize both dice: the exercise die runs D4 to D20, the rep die D4 to D12.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. Alea is on Android today, via Google Play.

What data does Alea collect?

Your workout history stays on your device. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
